SUMMER BINGO

Bingo is a summer fundraiser for the fire department.  It is an event that is strictly run by volunteers from the community.  You will find people lining up on Tuesday evenings during June, July, and August by 6:15.  The firehall only holds 100 players, so people arrive early in order to get a seat.  The door opens at 7:00 P.M. and the first game begins at 7:30.  There are 12 regular games played and four special games during the evening.

An adult …. (anyone 11 years old and up) pays $12.00 to play the 12 games.

Kids ………… 6 to 10 years old to play and a kid’s card is $6.00 for 12 games.

Extra cards may be purchased at the door – a large card for $5.00 each and a small card for $2.50 each.

Due to limited seating, no child under 6 may take a seat.
FOUR SPECIAL GAMES
The first three special games are $1.50 each and the fourth special is $2.00 each.  Volunteers circulate around the room selling these games right before they are played.

  • Special game number 1 is worth ½ of  the special games sold for the house and ½ for the winner.

  • Special game 2 is the $100 blackout.  Your entire card must be covered before the 52nd or higher number is called.

  • Special game 3 is the triangle game.  You can win the large triangle (2/3 of the pot) or the small triangle (1/3 of the pot).

  • Special game 4 is the $500 blackout.  Your entire card must be covered before the 52nd or above number is called.
DOOR PRIZES
One thing that is a little different about the fire department bingo are the door prizes that are given away during the evening.  When you purchase your games, you receive a number of door prize tickets based upon the number of games you buy.  The caller gives out prizes by calling out the ticket numbers.  These door prizes are items that generous businesses in the community have donated.
We are always in need of volunteers.  We need at least six people to work the games and four to work the kitchen concessions each Tuesday night.  Sundae Horn makes arrangements for volunteers.  You are encouraged to volunteer at least one Tuesday night during the summer to help out the fire department.

The following people were responsible for seeing that bingo and the kitchen concessions ran smoothly in 2011:

2011 Callers: Dave Frum, BJ Swain, Doreen Robinson, William Howard, and Stevie Wilson

A special thanks to Sundae Horne for seeing that there were volunteers every Tuesday night.
